Those who are not registered for the conference may not attend any program or events. You must be a registered attendee in order to attend the workshops, exhibit hall, and our networking events.
In keeping with our green efforts, in 2013 we stopped printing workshop handouts as they were the single largest source of paper waste after the event. However we do understand that for some, paper is still desired. To accommodate those individuals, we are posting handouts and Power Point presentations from workshop presenters within the NASW-IL Conference app. Materials will be uploaded approximately a month out from the conference date.
To print materials: Go to Schedule in the NASW-IL Conference app. Select the workshop you’re attending. If the speaker has sent a handout, it will be posted there. We encourage you to view materials on your mobile/tablet device; however you can always print them out in advance to bring with you. There will be no printed handouts provided by the chapter.
Materials will also be uploaded to the NASW-Illinois Chapter Conference Handouts Folder: http://bit.ly/naswconferencehandouts
The NASW-Illinois Chapter will be providing complimentary boxed lunches to attendees. If you made a special dietary request (excepting vegetarians), you will receive a meal card in your name badge for each day you are registered to attend. The meal card will need to be handed to a ticket attendee. All other attendees (including vegetarians) will be able to select their choice during lunch. This opportunity allows you to stay on-site and network with peers and/or explore the Exhibit Hall vendors.

Your selections while registering for the conference do NOT guarantee your spot as selections were used only for informational purposes and room allocation. We recommend arriving early to your desired workshop to ensure seating.
There is really no need to change them, you are not restricted to the workshop you used to register before the conference – we only request them for informational purposes and location allocation purposes. On the day of, you are free to attend any workshop you wish.
We encourage you to move to one of the other courses being taught at that time. This is your conference, so please do not stay in a class if you are not getting the most out of it!
The NASW-Illinois Chapter seeks to provide a conference environment in which diverse participants may learn, network and enjoy the company of colleagues in an environment of mutual human respect. We recognize a shared responsibility to create and hold that environment for the benefit of all. Some behaviors are, therefore, specifically prohibited:
- Harassment or intimidation based on race, religion, language, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, appearance, or other group status.
- Sexual harassment or intimidation, including unwelcome sexual attention, stalking (physical or virtual), or unsolicited physical contact.
- Yelling at or threatening speakers, staff or volunteers (verbally or physically).
Speakers are asked to frame discussions as openly and inclusively as possible and to be aware of how language or images may be perceived by others. Participants may – and do – exercise the “law of two feet.” Participants asked to stop a hostile or harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Conference participants seek to learn, network and have fun. Please do so responsibly and with respect for the right of others to do likewise.
Attendees found to be behaving in a manner counter to these policies will be asked to leave without a refund.
If you would like to file an ANONYMOUS complaint about any harassment you might experience at the conference, go to: https://naswil.wufoo.com/forms/anonymous-harassment-form-naswil-event/

Participants attending this year’s 2019 NASW Illinois Chapter Statewide Conference can receive up to 20 CEUs for attending the full three-day conference. To receive the maximum CEUs you must attend Monday’s Pre-Conference Workshop (2 CEUs), Tuesday’s Opening Session and both afternoon intensive sessions (6 CEUs), and all 8 (eight) Wednesday and Thursday workshops (1.5 CEUs each).
This year we’ve included ethics and cultural competency workshops each day of the conference so that you are able to meet the licensure renewal requirement of three (3) ethics and three (3) cultural competency CEUs. Look for the ethics or cultural competency button in the upcoming conference brochure to identify these courses.
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) requires all licensed social workers and licensed clinical social workers to complete thirty (30) hours of continuing education relevant to the practice of social work or clinical social work in order to renew their license every twenty-four months. In addition, a minimum of three out of those thirty hours must be in training relevant to the ethical practice of social work and another three in cultural competency. The next renewal date is November 30, 2019.
Social workers do not have to comply with continuing education requirements for the remainder of the renewal period in which you first get your license. (You do still have to renew your license; you are just not responsible for the CEUs.) This CEU grace period is up to two years long, depending on when you become licensed. If you do not know when your license was issued, see the IDFPR website (www.idfpr.com) feature “License Look-Up.”
